So many people want to get extra cash. They make huge steps to achieve this, but so often they forgot about the little things! Here are some small actions that can have huge consequences!
Get paid every time you spend with a cashback card
Do you have a credit card? Do you use it monthly just to built up your rating? So why don't you get some money back while you spend! Cashback credit cards work by paying you back a small percentage of what you've spent. The top cards can provide up to 5% cashback when you start, as well as some that are specifically for supermarket or petrol spending.
Set up a direct debit to pay the outstanding balance each month. This way, there's no interest cost so all the money you get back is practically free!
Realistically, you can earn in the £100's using cashback sites!
Always pay off debt BEFORE you save
So many people want to save for the future. However, doing this while you have outstanding debts is counter productive. Mots of the time, the interest you have to pay back from borrowing is more than you earn from your savings account, so PAY IT OFF.
Realistically, someone with a £2500 debt and £2500 in savings will be about £350 a year better off if they pay off their debts with their savings.
Always withdrawing money? Get a money tin
This one may sound a little silly, but speaking from experience, it works.
I have a savings account and when I first started off I had trouble keeping the money in there. I could easily put £500 in, then take £200 of that out to buy something new. So instead, I got a money tin. The best ones to get are the ones that cannot be opened without a tin opener and some elbow grease. They only cost a few pounds and work a treat. By putting money in the tin, you are less tempted to dip in and out, because if you do you'll have to start a new one!
It's also hard to keep track of how much is in there, the more money you know you have, the more you spend!
I found I had saved hundreds more this way and it's especially great to have a tin you open every year at Christmas, all the presents will be paid for!
